Marriage for Bornagain Christians

St. Augustine made the statement, “our hearts are restless until we find our rest in Thee.”

Man is created to Love and by Love. The Central Theme of Bible is Love and Relationship. God created man to be in relationship with him.

However Our God does not want us to have relationship only with him; instead he wanted us to have relationship with one another, Other creations and the nature. God places all of us in relationship and he places us in his order.
A life partner is also his choice. He created Eve for Adam. He choose Sarah for Abraham. He guided ELIASER to choose Rebacca for Isac. Lord allowed Jacob to marry Rachel and Leah. Marriage is so important because God places the spouse for each one according to his choice.

The Bible views marriage as a lifetime plan, not a convenience that can be disposed of in a lawyer's office. The love of husband and wife is a symbol of the deeper love between a human being and God. God expects all of us to give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage.

Given below is a list of Bible verses on Marriage.

Genesis 2:22-24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

22 The LORD God [a]fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; [b]She shall be called [c]Woman, Because [d]she was taken out of [e]Man.” 24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Proverbs 5:15-19 English Standard Version (ESV)

15 Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well. 16 Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you. 18 Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, 19 a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated[a] always in her love.

Proverbs 12:4 English Standard Version (ESV)

4 An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.

Proverbs 18:22 New International Version (NIV)

22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. Proverbs 19:14 New International Version (NIV) 14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

Proverbs 31:10 New International Version (NIV)

10 [a]A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

Matthew 19:4-6 New International Version (NIV)

4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a]5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Mark 10:6-9 New International Version (NIV)

6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’[a] 7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,[b] 8 and the two will become one flesh.’[c] So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Ephesians 5:21-33 New International Version (NIV)

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[b] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Hebrews 13:4 New International Version (NIV)

4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. However the great fall of man ( disobedience at the Garden) separated him from the Loving Lord. The unfailing Love of God made a plan to restore the Lost relationship ( John 3:16 says For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life).
